If you end up moving to a new house or if you are just refurbishing your own place little things will become complicated. Such as interior door hinges. This might not have even crossed your mind until it was mentioned but do you even know how to fix one?
Interior door hinges aren’t difficult to fix but there is a specific way of doing it, if you decide to do it in a different way you might end up making a huge mess of things. Firstly the interior door hinges needs to be setup correctly with the door. You will need an extra helping hand if you are going to do this. Mainly to lift the door and to make sure that the thickness of the metal of the hinge plate do not cause space adjacent to the door.
You will need to hold the door on its tall side, while the knob facing the floor.
You will need to slide the hinge in about 12 inches from the end of the door. In order to get the interior door hinges correctly fitted onto the door, make sure you trace out the exact spot on the hinge of the plate with a pencil. Remember to mark the screw holes. Do the same thing for the next two hinges. However make sure that one is at least 12 inches from the other. Now you will have to move all the hinges out of the door.
You will need to make some noise when fixing your interior door hinges. Now it is time to pick up your drill. Go ahead and load it with pilot bid in order to drill the pilot holes. These pilot holes should be an inch or two deep. These should be placed at the circular marks that you have already marked for screw holes. Now it gets a little bit messy.
You will need a good razor knife in order to cut around the marks for the first plate. Adjust the chisel into the edge of the marked cut that you’ve made and give it a tap with the hammer. Repeat this sequence for the next two previously marked hinge areas. You will need to load the drill once again, this time with the screwdriver bit. Set the plate at the 1st chiseled area and make sure that pilot holes are aligned to the screw holes located in the plate. Now you will have to sink in the screws to the holes of the plate in order to secure the holes. Remember to use high quality screws, because the durability of the door hinge screw is very important.
The last bit of it is easy. You will just have to place the door at the place in the opening. In order to lift it up slightly from the floor you will need to put shims under the door. This is basically the end. If you require more help it will help you to do a bit of research on the internet.
